The lecture programme takes place in the Matthews Hall at 10.45 a.m. on the second Thursday in the month from October to June. Members should arrive in good time to register their attendance before the lecture.
The lecturer is chosen from The Arts Society Directory by our Programme Secretary. This is usually a joint decision made with The Arts Society, Exeter, and in consultation with our committee; although both Societies occasionally decide to pick different speakers. All the lecturers have an established and national reputation, and are approved by The Arts Society in London. Of course, our aim is to cover a variety of subjects and to find interesting and amusing speakers! You can get an idea of the range of lectures under the lectures banner, which shows the current programme and past lectures. (See above.)
Each lecture starts promptly at 10.45 a.m. Coffee can be purchased from the cafe located at the front of the Hall.
Visitors and guests are welcome, though we are restricted by the legal limits on the size of an audience in the hall. Therefore, potential guests must be registered with the Membership Secretary at least 24 hours before the talk. Unregistered guests who turn up on the day may be refused entry. The charge for guests is £10 per lecture.
Our Programme Secretary is Tricia Owen.
